Life moments don’t come much larger than what they have for Stratford’s Micka Harrington, who this month hits our screens as a contestant on Channel 7’s The Voice.
Known locally as Micka, but marketed on the show as ‘Mick the Mower Man’, wearing his locally made flanny, Micka wows the four judges with his goosebump-inducing version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, turning all four chairs.
“To have four superstars turn and appreciate your music – it’s a pretty massive thing,” Micka says.
Seated on those chairs are judges and Australian stars Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy and Keith Urban, as well as British pop star, Rita Ora.
If that wasn’t enough of a life moment for a Munro-born and bred music man who’s been singing since he was six and performing gigs since he was 15, Micka proceeds to make the judges wait for his decision on who he will choose, saying he needs to ask someone an important question.
He gets down on bended knee and proposes to his partner Bec in front of their two children, Bella, 4, and Katie, 18 months, the judges and hundreds of audience members.
