When little old ladies are asking for your autograph down the street you must be pretty famous, especially when it’s well before you even get your glory spot on television.
But Sunday night’s episode of The Voice proved autograph worthy for local musician, Micka Harrington, who sang his own arrangement of Somewhere over the Rainbow, which has been splashed over TV advertisements for what feels like months.
“The lady said she was just getting in early,” Micka Harrington said.
“To be honest it feels really weird, especially being from a simple background growing up in Munro.”
Marketed as Mick the Mower Man, known locally as Micka, he works hard in his wood supply and gardening businesses.
His self-deprecating humour is evident from the start.
“The voice doesn’t really match the head does it?” he said to Keith Urban, one of the four stars who turned their chairs for him. The other judges of course are Rita Ora, Jess Mauboy and Guy Sebastian.
“As a singer, the ultimate goal is to convey emotion and make people feel when you’re singing,” Micka told the Advertiser.
