Youth worker and East Gippsland Shire Councillor, Kirsten Van Diggele, is part of a working group determined to have a youth accommodation foyer established in Bairnsdale.
The move comes amid concerns that there are an increasing number of young people who are homeless in East Gippsland.
Cr Van Diggele said many are sleeping rough, couch surfing and staying in their vehicles.
If established, a youth foyer would support young people by providing accommodation for up to two years, while assisting them with life skills and helping them to become independent.
