Reigning premier Omeo Benambra made an early statement, outclassing the previously unbeaten Swan Reach by 23
goals during round three of Omeo District netball last Saturday at the Omeo
Recreation Reserve.
In the grand final replay, both sides were keen to show close to their best form, hoping to get an early psychological advantage, and that is what the rampant Alpine Ranges did.
They made every post a winner, with Natalie Mitchell, Claire Martyn and Emma Pahl unstoppable.
Brodi Harris, Lily-Rose Archbold and Christine Sheilds all tried hard for the Swans, but Danni Ryan’s side has plenty of work to do if it is to get to the level of its top of mountain opponents.
The closest match of the round was at Bruthen where the home side maintained its hold on third spot on the table with a hard-earned six-goal victory over a Buchan side that is honing in on a win.
Lindenow South was the winner of the other match, outpointing the winless Swifts Creek by 12 goals in a competitive contest at Lindenow South.
In this week’s matches Buchan is at home to the Swampies, Swan Reach should get back on the winners list when it welcomes Swifts Creek, while Omeo Benambra will be a tough challenge for Bruthen at the top of the mountain.
