Locally owned galloper Highland Blaze was successful on his hurdle (3200 metres) debut last week at the iconic Warrnambool three-
day carnival.
Bred locally by former Bairnsdale-based trainer, Jackson Pallot, Highland Blaze ($6.50) ran on strongly in the straight under the urgings of former Irish jockey, Jordan Hart to run down another Warrnambool trained galloper Farag ($2.80) in the second race on the first day of the historic racing festival.
Highland Blaze began his racing career under the guidance of Pallot before joining the stable of one of the country’s rising stars, Shane Jackson at Warrnambool, when Pallot retired from the training late last year.
Jackson, also formerly from Ireland, rode with plenty of success of the jumps, before taking up training just over 12 months ago, he has trained 18 winners with his first 102 runners, and his stable numbers continue to grow by the day.
Under the tutelage of Jackson, Highland Blaze has won twice in the Melbourne on the flat and now looks to have a very promising career ahead of him over the sticks.
Several of the five year old bay geldings owners were on course to see him record his fifth win from 35 starts, taking his prize money to $278,790.
