If you have driven along the Bairnsdale to Dargo Road in recent months, you’d have seen artist Jenny Toye hard at work.
Jenny designed 12 separate vignettes celebrating Gippsland wildlife as well as one acknowledging livestock as an important feature of Glenaladale’s post-colonial history.
She has skilfully woven the vignettes together onto the curved surface of a water tank which supports firefighters when fire threatens the area.
Familiar Gippsland landscapes and plants provide backdrops for the Eastern Grey Kangaroo, the Gippsland Water Dragon and the Giant Burrowing Frog along with seven iconic local birds from the Azure Kingfisher to the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo can be found on this beautiful water tank mural.
Ray Stephenson, president of the Glenaladale Landcare Group, will be celebrating and cutting the ribbon at 10am this Saturday, May 10. Refreshments will be provided.
