At the recent Zone 7 Red Cross meeting being hosted by the Lindenow and District Branch members at the Lindenow Hotel, members heard of the amazing efforts of the local branches in their Red Cross Calling Appeal efforts and of the generosity of the general public in their support of this annual community fundraising.
The money raised will power thousands of acts of kindness. In the past year alone, Red Cross helped more than 213,000 affected by 70 emergencies and disasters. More than 78,401 hours were spent connecting with older and vulnerable people through Telecross and Telechat programs, over 117,152 meals were delivered to older people and 55,000 Trauma Teddies were distributed bringing comfort to people in crisis. Support has been given to people impacted by conflict globally and lifesaving help has been given to those affected by the Vanuatu earthquake – all while continuing the Red Cross everyday work , helping people achieve their hope for a better life.
Members congratulated Penny Quin, Chairman of Zone 7 and member of the Marlo Branch, who was presented with the Red Cross Victorian Service Award at Government House on Red Cross Day. The Yarram Branch was also presented with the Distinguished
Team Award.
