At the recent “Sleep at the G” more than $134,000 was contributed to the Melbourne City Mission to help raise funds for young people experiencing homelessness.
This was collected by Freemasons around Victoria and is again a record for a single donation. The work of the Mission aligns closely with the values of Freemasons, compassion, relief and service.
Also recently, the Grand Master of Freemasons Victoria and the Chairman of Freemasons Foundation Victoria presented $80,000 to the Good Friday Appeal. This also had been collected by Masonic Lodges throughout Victoria.
Already in 2025 scholarships supporting 114 students totalling $298,100 has been presented at a series of Scholarship Presentation Evenings hosted by the Freemasons Foundation Victoria. These recognise and support deserving and inspiring young people from across Victoria, celebrating their achievements and potential.
As the new financial year approaches, work is beginning to be underway around local Lodges in Orbost, Lakes Entrance and Bairnsdale to contact primary schools and secondary colleges to re-engage for the annual Masonic Achievement and Encouragement Awards to be presented at year-end school assemblies. It is expected that, as last year, as many as 55 students at 26 schools will share as much as $40,000.
