It’s been great to hear the fish are still eager to play the game, providing entertainment for anglers of all ages over the King’s Birthday long weekend.
Mitchell River: Bream are active throughout the system, with the mouth of the river producing the best results. Soft plastics and local prawn are the go to baits.
Tambo River: The power lines are the hotspot for bream, with the river mouth and the Snags also producing occasional catches. Soft plastics are working well in the clearer water.
Nicholson: Bream are biting around the river mouth and under the bridge, particularly during the incoming tide. Pipis and peeled prawns are delivering consistent results.
Metung: Bream and trevally are active around the jetties on prawns and mussels. Flathead and pinkies are also about, taking shrimp, prawn and hard-bodied lures. The sea wall is fishing well on a rising tide.
Paynesville/Hollands Landing: Bream are active around the jetties and canals, taking sandworm, prawn, and live shrimp. Flathead are favouring soft plastics, while luderick are showing in deeper channels during the tides.
