VIDEO – With no sign of the toxic blue-green algae abating in the Gippsland Lakes, the sitting National Party Federal MP, Darren Chester, has called for a comprehensive audit of the Lakes system.
The call has been supported by other candidates contesting next week’s Federal election.
Mr Chester told the Advertiser that the ongoing agal bloom has “further highlighted my long-running concerns with the funding provided to properly manage and research environmental issues associated with the Gippsland Lakes and its catchments”.
