Bairnsdale Croquet Club hosted a successful 19-hoop tournament last weekend.
Played in great conditions, the tournament offered up were some great games on display across all the four sections.
It was an exciting finish in division one with Richard Parks from Williamstown and Lakes Entrance’s Rhonda Smith both finishing with three wins and two losses.
Parks taking a title narrowly with a plus five hoops advantage opposed to Smith’s plus three.
Another tight tussle in section two, fought out by Wonthaggi players, Michael Butterfield and Virginia Wheeler, who both finished with four wins and a loss.
Butterfield taking the victory with a plus eight hoops score, opposed to Wheeler’s plus six.
It was a clear-cut victory in section three for Corry Schreuders (Lakes Entrance), who was victorious in four matches, suffering only a single loss.
Traralgon’s Mary Tabrah was runner-up with three wins and two losses.
Sale’s Betty Clissold was outstanding in division four winning all five matches, finishing with a plus 21-hoop advantage.
Another Sale player Elaine Giesbers was runner-up with three wins and two losses.
