Round five of the Hobie Fishing series was recently held at Georges River in New South Wales, attracting a quality field of 71 anglers from all around Australia.
The event was dominated by local anglers with New South Wales fishermen occupying the top 10 spots after two days of intense fishing.
Mitchell Taylor won the event with a six-fish haul of 4.91 kilograms, finishing narrowly ahead of Jason Marshall (4.75kgs) and Mohammed Faraj (4.56kgs).
Taylor also landed the biggest fish of the tournament, a magnificent 1.18 kilogram species.
Divisional winners included East Gippsland’s Riley Whelan (3.60kgs), who won the youth section placing an impressive 11th overall.
Australian Capital Territory’s Fiona Johnston (1.90kgs) was the women’s winner with Victoria’s Ramon Cooper (3.52kgs) the masters winners, while New South Wales angler, Kevin Nguyen (1.30kgs) was the leading first-time competitor.
Round six of the 2025 series will be conducted on the Gold Coast on August 9-10.
