Local natural light photographer Taylah Richmond, who is based in Swan Reach, has come up with a way to give back to her community while doing what she loves most – photography.
On Saturday, July 12, she will host a special walk-in photo session event at Picnic Point Reserve, in Bairnsdale, from 12pm to 3pm. But this is not your typical photo shoot: instead of charging a fee, she is asking participants to bring along one box of nappies and a box of wipes as their payment.
“My goal is to collect and donate at least 30 boxes of essential baby items to local organisations such as the Bairnsdale Maternity Ward, Neighbourhood House and Foster Care,” Taylah said.
“I am wanting to support families and children in need across our community. Earlier this year, I participated in the Bairnsdale market doing pop-up photo sessions and was blown away by the turnout, over 50 families visited my stall. I’m hoping for a similar response this time around.
“This event combines two things I care deeply about – photography and community kindness. I am wanting to encourage others to do more random acts of kindness no matter what that may be.
“The world is a scary, crazy and different place and just one act of kindness can make someone’s day,” Taylah said.
