Work has officially begun on the
long-awaited upgrade to the Paynesville
RSL building.
This exciting project will see a new roof installed, along with the addition of a deck, bar, new toilets, and much-needed storage space. Construction is expected to take around three months.
The RSL committee is proud to announce that 90 per cent of the funds for this upgrade were raised within the local community.
“In particular, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the Community Bank Paynesville and District for their major contribution. We also acknowledge generous support from the Uniting Church Friendship Shed, the Paynesville Community Opportunity Shop, and several private donors who wish to remain anonymous,” the club said.
“Importantly, this project has also been made possible thanks to funds entrusted to us by our World War II veterans, whose dedicated fundraising efforts in earlier decades put the RSL in a strong financial position to begin with.
“Other funding was provided by the Victorian Government’s Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, whose support has helped make this project a reality.
“We thank the entire community for their support and look forward to welcoming everyone back to a greatly improved facility later this year.”
