Funding boost

by

in Local News

Twenty-one not-for-profit community organisations across Gippsland will share in more than $63,000 as part of the Federal Government’s 2024-25 Volunteer Grants Program.

Grants of between $1000 and $5000 will assist successful community organisations in supporting the efforts of their volunteers, enabling the inclusion of vulnerable people and promoting awareness to increase participation in volunteering.

Tambo Bluff Landcare Coastcare, Paynesville Classic Boat Rally, Bairnsdale Scout Group, Devon North Men’s Shed, Maffra Municipal Band, Rosedale Community Care, Yallourn Yallourn North Football Netball Club, Toongabbie and District Pony Club and Boolarra Bowls Club are among the 21 Gippsland community organisations announced as successful 2024-25 Volunteer Grants recipients.

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester emphasised that funding through the Volunteer Grants Program not only assists community organisations but also serves as a recognition of the invaluable contributions of volunteers.

“Throughout Gippsland, we have thousands of volunteers who dedicate their time and support the community and through the Volunteer Grants program, we can give them a helping hand and make their roles as volunteers easier and more enjoyable,” Mr Chester said.

“With an ever-increasing cost burden facing our volunteer organisations, these funds will go some way to supporting them in continuing their immense contribution in making Gippsland a better place, ensuring that our volunteers feel supported and appreciated for the incredible work they do.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our community. From caring for our environment to helping those in need, their work strengthens every corner of Gippsland, and while their contributions may be unpaid, they are far from unrecognised.”
