The Queens Memorial Public Holiday turned on the sunshine and brought the crowds out for the long weekend in East Gippsland.
Metung was particularly busy on the Queens memorial day with crowds flocking to the holiday village to bask in the sunshine at the cafe’s and Metung Hotel.
Hotel publican, David Strange, conceded he was taken by surprise by the massive crowds that flocked into Metung on Thursday.
“It was our busiest day. The boats were coming in from all over the Gippsland Lakes,” Mr Strange said.
“The weather was beautiful, it was a lovely still day with the temperature about 20 degrees, everyone had T-shirts on.
“People were sitting out on the decks, the water park was full with families and they were playing football on the village green.
