The 2022 Talbalba Hereford Bull sale saw some huge sales on August 25, with a top price of $91,000 and a record sale average of $19,119.
Barry Newcomen, from Ensay, purchased the top-priced bull, Talbalba Hoffman R131, for the top price of $91,000, which is Talbal-ba’s second highest price ever.
The sale was very successful, with 63 bulls averaging over $19,000, the highest average Talbalba has achieved.
Bulls sold to three states with most going to commercial operations, some into straight Hereford herds and others into Santa, Droughtmaster, Angus and Brahman cross herds.
“Hoffman R131 is an outstanding individ-ual with an excellent phenotype combined with a strong data set,” operator of Talbalba Herefords, Steve Reid, said.
“He’s a medium maturity pattern bull who is thick, deep and easy doing.
“He has excellent structure and is very athletic.”
