The Bairnsdale Cricket Association (BCA) 2022/2023 season starts this Saturday.
It’s been a busy off season, with Paynesville joining the “A” grade competition and the BCA reintroducing twoday matches for the first time in two seasons.
Clubs have been busy adding plenty of talented recruits to the rosters, with 12 overseas imports expected to suit up in the coming weeks.
Meerlieu has been the most active, adding former Bairnsdale Advertiser Cricketer of the Year, Frankie Mostert, regaining Rohan and James Blandford, while adding Sale Maffra Cricket Association first grade players Lachlan Carman, Sam Bedggood and Mark Donald.
In round one matches, St Marys Nagle will host reigning premier Wy Yung, West Bairnsdale will get first look at Orbost’s new overseas arsenal, Lakes Entrance do battle with a Paynesville side keen to make an early impression, Bruthen plays Lucknow, with Lindenow South Glenaladale hosting the Meerlieu side everyone will be watching.
