There is a special screening of a highly-acclaimed movie, Future Council, by director Damon Gameau this Sunday, October 5, at 6.30pm at Bairnsdale Cinema.
The movie details the epic adventure of eight young people across Europe in a school bus powered by biofuel. Their mission is to better understand the planet’s predicament, explore solutions and take the conversation from the streets, into the boardrooms of some of the world’s largest polluters and most influential companies.
Premiered at the UN General Assembly and the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2024, the film is now being screened in cinemas across the country to outstanding reviews, such as: “An extraordinary bunch (of kids) with such lively personalities” and “They bring a refreshing creativity and moral clarity that makes adults think differently.”
Their bold, hopeful journey leads to the creation of a Future Council: young enthusiasts working with big business to change
the world.
The Bairnsdale screening is being organised by East Gippsland Climate Action Network. The main aim of the evening is to inspire local people of all ages by
the efforts of amazing children in the movie who are fighting for the climate and our future.
A donor has offered to cover the admission cost of all students, so this will not really be a fundraising venture but an opportunity to help inform and encourage the community.
Light refreshments will be provided prior to the screening and there will also be some special door prizes.
Bookings are essential. Go to TryBooking website or contact East Gippsland Climate Action Network.
