Two-day cricket returned to the Bairnsdale Cricket Association (BCA) on Saturday, with three of the five matches already decided on the first innings and headed for possibly maximum points this weekend.
Lucknow is poised to defeat St Marys Nagle, while Lakes Entrance and Meerlieu will play a one day match after rain got under the covers at the Lakeside Oval.
At Orbost, Paynesville opted to bat after winning the toss and was dismissed for 100 off 46 overs.
Harvey Smedley was the only Gulls batsman to offer any resistance, making a well compiled 37 from 103 balls, in a two and a half hour stay at the crease.
Orbost captain, Max Welsh, has a powerful bowling arsenal at his disposal, who are working cohesively as a unit – Lewis Moulton, Nick Davis and Welsh all made early breakthroughs before Luke Endley (3/29) and Rob Miller (2/16) knocked over the middle order and tail.
With 33 overs remaining in the day’s play, the Blues were keen to knock off the target and accumulate as big a lead as possible.
