St John’s Church was filled to capacity on Tuesday, October 14, when 40 members of the Harmony Scholars Choir presented a singalong concert to senior members of the community, as part of Seniors Month.
Choir conductor Ginny Vincent and accompanist Lyn Winnett led the choir in a selection of old-time songs that brought back many memories for the audience.
Lyrics were shown on large screens that enabled the audience to join in the singing.
A highlight of the afternoon was choir member Suzi Roberts handing out several sun flowers to members of the audience while everyone sang You Are My Sunshine.
Another fun moment was the choir singing How Much Is That Doggie In The Window, with choir members holding up a variety of toy dogs as they sang.
During the singing of The Happy Wanderer and She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain, some members of the choir walked up and down the church aisle bringing much delight to the audience.
Malcolm Reed, of St John’s, thanked the choir for a wonderful afternoon of songs, after which everyone enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea in St John’s Church Hall.
Harmony Scholars are looking forward to presenting a free Christmas community singalong concert at the Forge Theatre on Tuesday afternoon, December 2.
