INTERVIEW WITH TREVOR HANCOCK
PRESIDENT OF THE BAIRNSDALE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY
In this Behind East Gippsland Podcast, Byron Smith talks with the recently-appointed President of the Bairnsdale Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Trevor Hancock.
Born in Lakes Entrance, Trevor, went to Bairnsdale High School. He is a sixth-generation East Gippslander and son of the late local East Gippsland business and social identity Shirley Hancock, and great-great-great grandson of Sister Delahunty who was a midwife in Bruthen in the 1800s and had a strong connection with the local first nations people.
Trevor is a highly regarded antique dealer, a Member of the Australian Art and Antique Dealers Association, as well as a former Malvern councillor.
With some 50 years of retail management experience, he is well credentialed to lead the Bairnsdale Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and we were keen to get his opinion on a number of issues close to the hearts of many Bairnsdale retailers and residents, including his thoughts on…
- The mall outside the old Woolworths
- The job done by the previous Chamber President
- The Chamber’s relationship with the Shire
- The Bairnsdale water tower
- The current mix of businesses in Bairnsdale, and lots more.
