Local sprintcar driver Shane Steenholdt scorched around Nyora last Saturday night to take victory in the 17-lap sprintcar feature event on the evening.
The sprintcar race was a fast and furious affair from start to finish, Steenholdt recording a slick 13.5-second lap on the way to victory, proving too good for Steven Horton, Alistair Bastian, Adam Greenwood and Peter Laity.
Earlier in the day Steenholdt won two heat races and another Bairnsdale participant, veteran racer, David Dennison, was victorious in another.
Racing returns to Bairnsdale on Boxing Day this coming Monday, where racing will include round three of the Gippsland series of the wingless sprints.
There was a huge accident in the wingless sprints event at the last Bairnsdale meeting which resulted in the cancellation of the remainder of the meeting due to a medical emergency.
