East Gippsland Shire has issued a ‘notice of decision’ to approve a planning permit for a rooftop bar in Metung.
Long-time Metung residents, Adele Rosmalen and Andrew McInnes, bought the former Amcal chemist building in the heart of the cafe strip in 2020 and engaged Bairnsdale-based Slap Architects to design a wine and tapas bar over three levels.
The project includes a ground floor with bar, including alfresco seating for dining.
A lounge and kitchen will occupy the second floor while the rooftop incorporates a garden-style setting where patrons can relax and take in the views of Metung Village and Lake King.
The rooftop area is likely to be a huge drawcard, allowing diners “to soak up the magnificent vista of Metung’s waterways”, Mr McInnes said.
