Bairnsdale-based Dyers Distribution has recently introduced four A Double units into its large fleet of heavy vehicles.
These 36.5 metre long vehicles are the largest refrigerated High Productivity Freight Vehicle’s (HPFV) operating in Victoria.
The complex and time sensitive operation involves taking Fresh Cut Salads from Vegco/One Harvest in Bairnsdale and linking up in Dyers Melbourne refrigerated depot to consolidate the Bairnsdale products with freshly produced product from the One Harvest Smeaton Grange (NSW) factory.
“The vehicles operate seven days per week in a precisely timed operation involving three change-over drivers for each vehicle,” Dyers Group operations manager, Matt Coverdale, said.
“From having the product produced fresh in Bairnsdale and Smeaton Grange it is delivered to South Australian supermarket DC’s in the early hours the following day and available on South Australian supermarkets shelves the same day.”
