New Wave II was the winner on adjusted time of Saturday’s club race at the Metung Yacht Club, with Graeme Jamieson, Derek Russell and Les Tuckey on board.

The course started and finished in front of the yacht club in Bancroft Bay, and was a triangle in Lake King.

Wind was around 10 knots from the east, with three returns of the triangle were planned, but the race was shortened and the racers just beat heavy weather home.

There were two boats in division two, starting at 2pm, New Wave II and Beagle.

New Wave II crossed the start line well ahead of Beagle, but positions changed and Beagle rounded Shaving Point ahead.

There were three Etchells in division one, start at 2.15pm, Odyssey, Leading Edge and Feng Shui.

Odyssey, under pressure from Leading Edge, was first across the start line, but the crew of Leading Edge quickly gained the lead, and raised their spinnaker as they rounded Shaving Point.

Odyssey was slightly ahead of Feng Shui as both yachts rounded the point.

Beagle was the first boat home, followed by the first Etchells, Leading Edge, 52 seconds ahead of Odyssey.

In other news, Metung Yacht Club is honoured to be hosting the 2026 International Flying Dutchman National Titles, on January 24-26.

Metung Yacht Club members Damien Daniel, Steve and Annie Richardson are pictured with the trophies that were awarded to their team for placing second in their overall class, sailing in the 35th Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta (RMSI), on board BeauX Esprits, an X-412, hull number 41. Damien, Steve and Annie participated in an eight person racing crew, contesting the RMSIR in wet and windy conditions, with offshore and inshore racing, between November 14-22. (PS)
