South Pines Golf Club elected a new 2026 committee of management at its annual general meeting (AGM) last Saturday afternoon.
Celia Wallace was elected president and will be supported by Ralph Wall (vice president), Lynda Gardiner (secretary) Jan Hobson (treasurer), Greg Slight (course director), Geraldine Sinclair (women’s captain), Phil Morgan (men’s captain) and committee members Elaine Johnson, Glen Edgerton and Shane Dawson.
There was plenty of praise for outgoing president, Lucy Haussegger, who has stepped down due to work commitments after two years at the helm, and outgoing secretary, Brett Wyllie, who has also decided it was time to step down after seven years in the role.
At the conclusion of the AGM, three new life members were announced.
Wayne Hardwidge was captain for 11 years and president for two, as well as service as a general committee member.
Elaine Johnson has been acknowledged for her many years service on the general committee, and as women’s president, captain and treasurer as well as representing the club at numerous interclub events. Johnson takes pride in the garden around the clubhouse and is the coordinator of Tuesday golf.
John Fraser has been recognised for his many years as the club’s main sponsorship person.
Fraser spends many hours visiting and cultivating the many valued sponsors.
