Mount Taylor CFA held its biannual awards and 80th birthday celebrations on Saturday, March 4, at Club Eastwood.
The night was opened by the Master of Ceremonies for the night, brigade second Lieutenant Erika Lind.
Brigade captain, Geoff Crane, welcomed guests and dignitaries and then proposed a toast to the partners and friends of the brigade for the support they give to its members.
Captain Crane then toasted the CFA which was then relied by the CFA’s assistant chief officer Trevor Owen, who together with his father were both members of the Mount Taylor CFA back in the 80s.
There was more than 1000 years of service presented on the evening, which included two 60-year medals, presented to David Hine and John Sykes; one 55-year service medal, presented to Ken Stuart AFSM; and four 50-year service medals presented to Kel Waites, Phil Lind, Keith Hay-Smith and Newton Stephenson.
