It was a tough day for the Redlegs on Saturday as they ventured deep into South Gippsland to take on the colossus that is the Leongatha Football Netball Club.
The Parrots were attempting to win their 33rd consecutive match, while the Redlegs were keen to register their third win of the season, and showcase their 2023 improvement against the league benchmark.
But it wasn’t to be, Leongatha 115 point victors, Bairnsdale suffering the same fate as Sale (135 points) and Warragul (97) have in the preceding weeks.
The Redlegs matched the Parrots early and at times throughout the match, but quickly learnt that if you’re not precise against the Leongatha juggernaut they will hurt you on the score board quickly and frequently.
