The Bairnsdale Show will hold its annual general meeting on Tuesday, March 3, at 7pm at the Bairnsdale Racecourse, with all committee positions becoming vacant.
Organisers are encouraging new faces to step forward to help run the long-standing community event.
Last year’s show was cancelled due to a shortage of volunteers to plan, organise, and manage the various sections of the event. While the equestrian competitions went ahead and were successful, the committee felt they had no choice but to call off the remainder
of the show.
Despite the setback, public support for the show to continue has been strong. Organisers say this year’s success will depend on an influx of people willing to assist, whether skilled or simply passionate about the future of the Bairnsdale and District Agricultural Show.
“Times are changing, and people are busy, but we believe it is important to continue showcasing the skills and talents of our community,” the committee said. “The show has provided entertainment and competition for local families and visitors for more
than 140 years.”
Anyone interested in helping keep the event alive is invited to attend the AGM. For enquiries, contact the show secretary, Jill Thompson.
