The inaugural Bream Cup 2026 will be a highlight of this weekend’s Gippsland Lakes Boat Show, featuring a $15,000 prize pool and attracting some of Australia’s top bream anglers.
Over two days, competitors will fish the Gippsland Lakes and return to the show precinct for live weigh-ins and updates on the main stage, with winners announced Sunday afternoon. Spectators can watch professional boats in action and gain insights from expert anglers.
Confirmed participants include Melbourne veteran Bogdan Zisu, local Lakes Entrance angler Peter Breukel, New South Wales competitor Mark Crompton, Moorabbin’s Paul Malov, and East Gippsland star Peter “Nordy” Nord. Bairnsdale’s Scott Scicluna, Mallacoota’s Josh Jeffrey, and Metung’s Riley Whelan complete a strong field of established and rising stars.
Organisers say the Bream Cup not only celebrates competitive fishing but also highlights the Gippsland Lakes as a premier destination for anglers and boating enthusiasts, complementing attractions like the Paynesville Classic Boat Rally.
