The East Gippsland Cancer Support Group has begun its 2026 program with its first “Chat N Chew” gathering of the year, bringing members together after the Christmas and New Year period spent with family.
Friendly faces and a relaxed atmosphere greeted both returning and new members at the recent meeting, where attendees shared lunch and conversation. Each person
brings a plate to share, with organisers saying the informal setting helps foster connection and support.
The group is preparing to mark a significant milestone, celebrating 27 years of support on February 24 at its next Chat N Chew.
Organisers said a dedicated and active committee works to ensure meetings remain engaging, regularly inviting guest speakers from a variety of fields to provide information and encouragement for members.
The support group aims to connect cancer patients, family members and friends, with many participants forming friendships that last for years beyond their
initial involvement.
New members are warmly invited to attend and experience the welcoming environment.
Meetings are held at the St Mary’s Parish Centre on the fourth Tuesday of each
month at 12.30pm.
