A new free program for people aged 65 and over is set to start this month in Paynesville, aimed at helping seniors stay active, healthy, and independent for as long as possible.
Live Younger Longer, delivered in partnership with Gippsland PHN and supported by East Gippsland Shire Council, focuses on five key areas of healthy ageing: cognitive wellbeing, mental and emotional health, physical health, nutrition, and social connection. Participants also gain access to a free activity program to put what they learn into practice.
The program will run weekly on Thursdays at 10am at Paynesville Community Hall, starting on March 5. Sessions are delivered by a friendly team of professionals, including an exercise physiologist, dietitian, and clinical psychologist, who provide guidance, support, and practical advice.
Organisers invitied seniors and community members to a free morning tea last Thursdayat Paynesville Community Hall to learn more and register for
the program.
The program is fully funded, with no cost to participants.
Lucy Billington, project director of Live Younger Longer, said the initiative builds on the success of a previous program run in Eagle Point last year.
“We are excited to bring this program to Paynesville and help older members
of our community stay
well, active, and connected,” she said.
