Boisdale Briagolong has consolidated its place in the top three and look set to push for a top two finish after a comfortable victory over Lucknow in round nine of the East Gippsland Football Netball League on Saturday at Boisdale.
In a tough and torrid match played at close quarters, it was the Bombers who got the jump, kicking five goals in the first ten minutes with Tom Jolly instrumental in getting the ball out of the middle and down to Caleb Calwyn, captain Jimmy Reeves and Brandon Rimington who were all causing havoc.
But to their credit, the Magpies settled and finished the quarter strongly, kicking the final four goals of the term to only trail by eight points at the break.
Tempers became frayed in the second quarter, the Bombers reduced to just 16 players after tough on baller, Daniel Johnson and ruckman, Jarrad Neilson were both yellow carded.
Johnson will spend a week on the sidelines for his high hit on Magpie, Luke Belfrage, who didn’t return to the field in the second half.
