The Mitchell River Lodge No. 742 (Freemasons Victoria) has continued its long-standing tradition of supporting local students, presenting scholarships to two year 12 graduates from Bairnsdale Secondary College last month.
Since 2015, the Lodge has made an annual donation in the form of scholarships to students who meet certain criteria, including planning to continue straight into tertiary education without taking a gap year.
This year’s recipients are Mitchell Casse, who is applying for an engineering course at RMIT, and Sophie Irish, who intends to study nursing and occupational therapy at Federation University.
The scholarships are funded equally by the Mitchell River Masonic Lodge in Bairnsdale and the Freemasons Foundation, part of Freemasons Victoria, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to supporting education and local youth.
