St Mary’s Nagle recently wrapped up its season with presentation night at the Bairnsdale Bowling Club.
Around 50 people attended the event, with club captain and Bairnsdale Cricket Association Cricketer of the Year runner-up Ricky Tatnell dominating the major awards.
Tatnell claimed the club champion award, along with the batting title (372 runs at 41.33) and bowling honours (38 wickets at 13.29), capping off an outstanding all-round season.
After a slow start, the Saints showed strong improvement after Christmas, winning three matches to finish the season with four victories.
In “B” grade, Kyden Capes won the batting award (313 runs at 28.45), while Xavier Hack claimed the bowling (15 wickets at 27.93). Seth Noonan was named champion player after contributing 272 runs and 10 wickets.
The coach’s award went to Lenny Dullard, while Hack was also recognised for his outstanding figures of 6/17 against Meerlieu.
In the under 16s, Will Counihan (158 runs at 31.6) won the batting, William Gray (13 wickets at 8.46) the bowling, and Patrick McGinty was named champion player. Alex Banson was recognised as most promising, while Dullard also received the coach’s award.
At under 13 level, Banson again featured strongly, winning the batting (161 runs at 80.5). Owen Draper (seven wickets at 8.71) secured the bowling award, while Luca Webster (fielding), Jett Anderson (most improved) and Huzaifa Kashif (coach’s award) were also recognised.
The prestigious best club person award was presented to Hywel Nicholls, while Noah Hack was acknowledged as the club’s number one supporter.
Several individuals were thanked for their contributions throughout the season, including David Mitchell for his ongoing support of the junior program, Dan Eastman for his work coordinating the Blast program, and Adrian Chila and Paul Capes for their efforts behind the scenes selecting senior teams.
Acknowledgement was also given to club captains and curators Ricky Tatnell and Danny Hack, committee members and volunteers for their tireless work, and the parents and families whose support continues to underpin the club’s success.
