The South Pines Golf Club Championships concluded last week, naming winners Nick Mitchell and Lucy Hausseger.
The 2026 Championships delivered three days of competitive golf across all grades with some outstanding scores from players across all grades.
In the men’s, Mitchell (five-handicap) claimed the Club Championship and “A” grade, with a composed and consistent performance.
Mitchell finished on 233, after carding rounds of 82, 75 and 76, the second round pivotal in setting up the success.
He finished ahead of Alf Jessup (238), Mitchell Mackenzie (242) and Steve Jewell and Matt Stephenson (244).
Mitchell completed a clean sweep of the event, winning the nett, with a score of 218 narrowly from Stephenson (220).
Troy Overstead dominated “B” grade, leading from the front after shooting a sensational 74 in the opening round, finishing with a great score of 235, off a handicap of 10.
He comfortably defeated Peter Erwin (256), John Doyle (258) and Kevin Lloyd (259).
Not surprisingly, Overstead also took the nett division, with a brilliant score of 205, the best of the championships.
In “C” grade, Michael Love was rewarded for his consistency, posting scores of 97, 94 and 93 for an impressive total of 284.
He finished well ahead of Joe Szabo (315) and Danny Redenbach (316).
Love also secured the nett title with 221 and made it back-to-back wins in the Veteran Championship.
Love (221) got home narrowly from Doyle (222), Erwin (223), Jewell (223), Lloyd (229) and Jessup (229).
The Veterans’ field was notable for its depth, with multiple players hovering around the low 220s and several rounds in the low 70s.
In the ladies, Hausseger took out the 2026 Club Championship and the nett event, with Ros Toland victorious in both categories of “B” grade.
Val Kilmartin won “C” grade, with Jenny Treasure victorious the nett section.
The course was presented in outstanding condition for the annual Club Championships, a credit to all volunteers involved.
