Despite the overcast conditions, last Saturday’s Bairnsdale parkrun still attracted an enthusiastic field of 112 participants.
The field included 23 first-time runners, while 11 others achieved personal best times.
Ethan Sanderson was the first to cross the line, covering the the five-kilometre course along the picturesque Mitchell River in 18 minutes and 41 seconds.
Mikhaila Bromwich (20.39) was the first female home, while personal bests were recorded by Otis Evans (24.01), Mitch Neal (24.31), Daniel Delaney (25.42), Lina Jung (26.42), Emmet Evans (27.20). Vaughan Evans (27.23), Zoe Lawson (29.53), Albert Williams (30.50), Liz Marran (30.50), Celine LeChappe (35.23) and Kimberley Allan (36.05).
Several running groups were represented, including East Gippsland Runners, Riviera Triathlon Club, Wymondham AC, Running with Dogs Australia and Wynfit.
The event was supported by volunteers Jacinta Symons, Beck Lamble, Brian Wallace, Emma-Lee Still, Jay Symons, Lily Seymour, Lynee Kahsnitz and Susan O’Reilly.
The Bairnsdale parkrun departs at 8am each Saturday and is open to participants to run, jog or walk for fitness, fun and camaraderie.
