Bairnsdale Speedway Association will close out its season with the annual Gary Bowden Memorial for Wingless Sprints on Easter Sunday.
It will also be the final opportunity for club classes to compete for club championship points.
Once again, it’s an early start at 3pm, with gates open at 11am to get the best viewing spots.
Fans can access the drivers and their cars in the pit enclosure up until around 2.15pm if early.
Competitors in the Bowden Memorial will honour the late local businessman and club member of Bairnsdale, entries include Wayne Logue, Ricky Mills, Blake Ross, Jarrod Payne, Scott Irons, Tyler O’Leary, Jack Regan, Dillon Siely, Marcus Fraser, Scott Cole, and Peter Logue.
The class is very tough to pick a winner, the two Bairnsdale locals Dillon Siely and Fraser would be popular winners in front of a parochial home crowd, while Peter Logue would be another deserved winner, still flicking his race car through the turns at over 70 years of age and more than capable of achieving victory.
Victorian champion Beau Stuchbery leads the nominations in the division two hot rods, and is expected to get strong opposition from the likes of Keven Stoopman, Trent Wilson, Troy Wilson, and even last year’s standard saloon club champion Jamie Curtis. He will be behind wheel of a car driving for local team owner Kate Stuchbery.
She will also be in action as will Kyson Liversidge, Mat Goode, Michael Cormack, Craig Cormack, and Chris Greaves.
A small field of juniors will compete with last start winner Jayden Curtis set to be challenged by Chloe Cormack, Alex VanDuren, and Tailen Wells.
In the ladies standard saloon competition, Bree Walker is the standout nomination, with plenty of interest around Brooke Mills in her debut weekend of racing.
Maddi Logue, Kate Stuchbery and Sharni Stuchbery will also race, but it will take an outstanding drive to conqueror Walker.
Last start winner in the open standard saloons Gus Argoon leads the field in this weekend’s final meeting with Mitchell Ling and Jack Wharton who made up the top three two weeks ago, back to do battle.
Andrew Cormack, Kieran Mills, Arron Cormack, Colin Connolly, and Steven Dadswell are also in the line-up, and the doors should swap paint and decal at some stage during the night.
Limited sportsmen will have their final local event of the season, with races still scheduled for Drouin, Nyora and Ballarat and Hamilton before the season ends.
Last start winner Dan Hurley is keen for more success after winning on the Labour day weekend, while Mal Siely has been at the front often this season
Darren Adams, Dillon Siely, Jayden White and Tannah Lee make this a great field, White a winner of a final last season and Lee a shining star at the King of the Rock recently.
