The much-anticipated East Gippsland Field Days return this Friday and Saturday, April 10–11, at the Bairnsdale Aerodrome, promising two days of agriculture, innovation, and community celebration.
Organised by the Lindenow Lions Club, the annual event has grown into one of the region’s standout attractions, drawing between thousands of visitors each year and showcasing hundreds of local businesses, producers, and community organisations.
Since its humble beginnings in May 1986 with 83 exhibitors on private farmland west of Lindenow, the Field Days have evolved into a major regional event, now hosted at the Bairnsdale Aerodrome with more than 300 exhibitor spaces. Visitors can explore cutting-edge farm machinery, livestock products, agribusiness services, and innovations from across Victoria and beyond.
The program offers a lively mix of entertainment and demonstrations, including woodchop competitions, sheep dog trials, live animal and reptile shows by Black Snake Productions, a dog education zone, and live music throughout both days. Children’s activities ensure the event remains a family-friendly outing, while food vendors and local producers give guests the chance to sample regional fare and support small businesses.
The Field Days enjoy broad support from local partners. In recent years, East Gippsland Shire Council has brought its largest-ever display, giving residents and visitors the chance to meet councillors, learn about local services, and discuss regional priorities.
As always, proceeds from ticket sales and exhibitor support are returned to local groups and projects, helping sustain East Gippsland’s strong community spirit. For those in agriculture or anyone keen to experience country culture and innovation, the Field Days remain a must-visit event — a place to connect, explore, and celebrate the heart of rural Victoria.
