Police motorcycle operations in the East Gippsland and Wellington police service areas have returned.
For various reasons, police solo’s have not been utilised on a sustained basis since about the mid 1990s.
However, after considerable work by Wellington Highway Patrol and eastern district 6 (ED6) command, bikes are now back patrolling.
Senior Sergeant Luke Banwell, who heads up road policing for ED6, welcome their return.
“A lot of effort went into resourcing, training and equipment,” Snr Sgt Banwell said ahead of the solo’s return to the road last week.
