Wy Yung Cricket Club held its presentation night in late March, with a strong crowd in attendance to recognise the club’s award winners for the 2025/26 season.
Club champion for 2025/26 was hard-hitting opening batter Cameron McPhan, who produced an outstanding home-and-away campaign highlighted by two centuries.
His efforts secured the “A” grade batting aggregate with 538 runs at 59.78, while Daniel Gledhill claimed the batting average with 401 runs at 66.83. Darcy Murray dominated the bowling awards, finishing with 30 wickets at 11 to take both the bowling aggregate and average.
The “B” grade side fell just short of premiership success but still enjoyed a strong season, reaching the semi-finals.
Grade champion and batting award winner was David Wolfe, who compiled 470 runs at 78.33, while Guyann Hamilage took out the bowling award with 19 wickets at 6.79.
In “C” grade, the Tigers finished runners-up, with Alex Confait sweeping the major honours. He was named grade champion and also claimed both the batting (261 runs at 52.2) and bowling (nine wickets at 9.56) awards.
Promising youngster Luis Wilson was recognised with the senior coaches award, while the Keith Murray Club Person of the Season award went to Laurie Saxon.
The club also acknowledged its junior program, presenting all under 13 and under 16 players and coaches with custom club medallions.
In under 13 division one, coached by Ben Saxon, Angus Durie led the awards, topping both batting (191 runs) and bowling (five wickets). Kaden Hartley received the coaches award, while Henry Porter was named best first-year player.
Under 13 division two, coached by Jamie Lynch, saw Jack Lynch take the batting honours with 146 runs, Bryan Borah claim the bowling award with 13 wickets, and Harrison Stagg receive the coaches award.
The under 16 side, coached by Charlie Thompson, had Jonah Linford as leading batter with 268 runs and Frazer Jackson as leading bowler with 11 wickets. Coaches also recognised Nick O’Kelly with the coaches award and Noah Mathers with the fielding award.
Five-wicket haul awards were presented to Damian Vicary, Darcy Murray (twice), Charlie Thompson, Jacob Zumach and Tayte Cooper.
Framed scorecards were presented to centurions Cameron McPhan (twice), Daniel Gledhill, David Wolfe (twice), Todd Murray and Ben Saxon.
