Another Bairnsdale parkrun, another personal best for Cain Lestrange.
The local runner continues to be in outstanding form, leading the field home last Saturday in 18 minutes and six seconds, shaving four seconds off his previous week’s time. It marked the third consecutive week Lestrange has recorded a personal best over the five-kilometre Mitchell River course.
The event attracted 103 participants, including 14 first-time runners, with a total of 15 personal bests recorded across the field.
The first female across the line was consistent performer Mikhaila Bromwich in 20.37.
A strong list of personal bests was recorded, including John Theodore (21.49), Agnieszka Busza (22.35), Melissa Woodroffe (25.51), Ayla Buckley (26.04), Daniel Seppala (25.05), Kobe Fields (28.23), Robbie Tavale (28.25), Robyn Harcourt (28.38), Brie Leigh (28.57), Nicola Morris (30.19), Ella Theodore (31.44), Alex O’Brien (31.56), Jonty Elliott (34.07), Alexandra Watton (43.09) and Xiamain Guan (51.25).
Running groups represented on the morning included Riviera Triathlon Club, East Gippsland Runners, Team Veteran and Knox Triathlon.
The weekly event was supported by volunteers Denise Lamble, Jean Wilson, Meagan Edwards, Sarah Lamble, Sophie Brown, Susan O’Reilly and Trent Howell.
Bairnsdale parkrun departs at 8am each Saturday from the Mitchell River path, welcoming runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities.
