Paynesville powerlifter Kylie Findley has delivered an exceptional weekend performance, competing across three events over two days and finishing with multiple records in a remarkable display of strength, resilience and determination.
The weekend began on Saturday at the Capo ANZAC Day event at Slaughterhouse Gym, where Findley competed in a three-lift competition in sleeves. Taking a controlled and strategic approach, she lifted conservatively throughout the event but still produced outstanding results.
By the end of the competition, she had secured world records in the squat, deadlift and overall total, along with a national record in the bench press.
Rather than finishing there, Findley backed up later that day for a single-lift deadlift event. Already 11 lifts into a demanding schedule and having lifted a total of 1510kg, she stepped up for her 12th lift of the day and pulled an impressive 185kg, adding both a national and world record in the Masters 55–59 division.
After a huge opening day, she returned to the platform on Sunday for the APL Victorian State Championships at Apex Strength in Coburg. With fatigue setting in, the second day proved more challenging, but she continued to compete with determination through to the final lift.
On her 20th and final lift of the weekend, Findley attempted a 190kg deadlift — the heaviest of her three competitions. The bar moved well, but a slight instability at lockout resulted in a “no lift” call from officials.
“On a good day, I know I had that lift, but I’m incredibly proud that my 20th lift of the weekend was my biggest — and that I got so close,” Findley said.
Across two days, three competitions and 20 lifts, Findley’s performance delivered multiple world and national records and highlighted not only elite physical strength but also significant mental endurance and consistency under fatigue.
