The Paynesville Community Craft Centre Inc is encouraging locals to support handmade, locally produced gifts this Mother’s Day, drawing on its long-standing connection with mothers and grandmothers in the community.
The centre, which has operated for almost 47 years as a not-for-profit organisation, says its members have a strong understanding of what makes meaningful gifts for mothers.
“We have a longstanding relationship with mothers, as most of our members are mothers or grandmothers,” the centre said.
“We feel we know a thing or two about what mothers like, and we have been in business for almost 47 years.”
Visitors are invited to browse a wide range of handcrafted items, including pottery, woodwork, knitted hats, beanies and scarves, soaps, jewellery, lavender sachets, bags and knee rugs.
The centre emphasised that all proceeds are returned to local community groups as part of its not-for-profit model.
The craft centre is located in the white cottage on the foreshore of Lake Victoria in Paynesville and is open daily from 10am to 4pm.
