Local shooter Jack Bateson has continued his outstanding form at the 2026 New South Wales State Skeet Titles in Wagga recently.
Bateson maintained his winning run, demonstrating skill and consistency at the highest level across the three-day event.
On the Friday, he competed in the .410 gauge 50-target event, shooting an impressive 48/50 — equal highest score in the competition.
He then progressed to a shoot-off for the overall win and State title, narrowly missing out, but still finishing first in “AA” grade.
Sunday saw him step up to the premier event of the carnival — the 100-target 12-gauge Open.
Bateson shot a perfect 100/100 to claim the overall win and the title of 2026 NSW 12-gauge Open Champion.
He was also awarded Junior High Gun for the event.
The latest State title adds another 10 Hall of Fame points to Bateson’s tally, bringing him to 40 points overall.
The NSW Open title is also Bateson’s third Open State title win for 2026 — an impressive achievement for the year 12 Bairnsdale Secondary College student.
