Meerlieu has thrown down the gauntlet to unbeaten Lindenow South Glenaladale in round six of the Bairnsdale Cricket Association off the back of a batting masterclass from Rohan Blandford.
Despite thunderstorms threatening throughout the region on Saturday, “A” grade cricket escaped relatively unscathed, the Tussocks compiling an impressive 9/274 from their allotment of 80 overs.
Blandford was in sensational form, scoring a scintillating 100 from 119 deliveries including seven boundaries, before being dismissed prior to afternoon tea.
He received good support from Frankie Mostert (26), Des Frew (21), Nicholas Adendorff (41) and Reagan Kyle (45) as the Tussocks posted a score which will put the acid on the Bulls.
Skipper Mel Irish was again in good form taking 5/80 from 24 overs, but he will need his batsmen to be in top form if they are to remain unbeaten.
