St Mary’s Nagle and Orbost have played a dramatic draw in their round seven Bairnsdale Cricket Association fixture, with the potential for a couple of other games to go that way when play resumes this week.
With works to be carried out on the Nagle College Oval in the coming weeks, it was agreed between the two clubs they would play across two days last weekend.
Rain affected all matches on Saturday, with considerable periods of time lost in all matches.
The Saints were finally bowled out on Sunday for 180 off 74 overs.
There were plenty of solid contributions with the bat, George Read (26), Flynn Thompson (23) and Ricky Tatnell (39) were important through the top order before another significant lower order cameo from Ethan East.
The big fellow helped himself to 36 from 26 balls including four towering sixes, spectators moving their cars in fear of having a wind-screen broken.
Nick Hulme and Luke Endley did a power of work with the ball for Orbost, Hulme sending down 25 overs, taking outstanding figures of 6/68.
