Paynesville Fire Brigade is calling on community-minded residents to step forward and join its ranks, with the 100 per cent volunteer emergency service hosting a dedicated recruitment information night next month.
As an entirely volunteer-run brigade, the crew relies solely on the dedication of local individuals to provide vital emergency response and community safety services across the district.
The information session will be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday, August 5, at the Paynesville Fire Station, located at 38 Wellington Street.
The evening is open to anyone aged 18 and over who is interested in giving back to the area. Attendees will gain a firsthand look at the realities of life within the Country Fire Authority (CFA), with opportunities available for both frontline operational firefighters and essential non-operational support roles.
No prior firefighting experience is necessary, as the CFA provides all required training.
Current brigade members will be on hand throughout the evening to outline the training pathways, explain the various roles, discuss the time commitments, and share the personal rewards that come with wearing the CFA uniform. The session will offer a relaxed, welcoming environment for residents to ask questions and meet their local first responders.
While centrally based in Paynesville, the brigade proudly protects a vast footprint, responding to incidents across Newlands Arm, Raymond Island, Forge Creek, Eagle Point and the Banksia Peninsula.
The brigade also operates satellite stations at Newlands Arm and Raymond Island, and officers are warmly encouraging residents from these specific pockets — along with the wider response zone — to attend and discover how they can safeguard their own backyards.
A light supper will be provided for all attendees.
