Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan yesterday announced her resignation, marking an end to her tenure as head of the State Government.
Ms Allan, who assumed the state’s top political office following the departure of Daniel Andrews in late 2023, confirmed her decision during a press conference in Melbourne.
Throughout her premiership, Ms Allan oversaw major state infrastructure projects, regional transport initiatives and budget reforms, though her government faced ongoing scrutiny over state debt and regional development priorities.
Notably, Ms Allan’s tenure concluded without a formal ministerial visit to the East Gippsland Shire, despite local calls for executive government attention on timber industry transitions, road funding and coastal infrastructure.
Ben Carroll has been elected to take Ms Allan’s position as Premier of Victoria.
